The detailed escape report of his grandmother is the starting point for his book on East Prussia. Personally, but unsentimentally, he follows the path of the landowner family to the West and traces the loss that has not only occurred to those affected. A portrait of the almost forgotten German province is created, which becomes visible in its tragedy, but also in its historical and cultural uniqueness – as a repressed part of our national identity.
